Setting Goals

Happy Sunday to all my beautiful friends! It is such a beautiful day where I live and even though it is a little chilly outside, it is very sunny and that is enough to make your day brighter! This year has been a year of changes for me, even though we are only a few months in. I think it is safe to say that every family has been through tons of changes ever since 2020. I am not usually one for setting very specific resolutions when the new year hits, but this year I really felt like I wanted to set some goals that I was very intentional about reaching. I thought for this blog it would be fun to just share some ways that I have stayed committed to my goals.

  • Pick goals that make you excited to get up and work towards. There were two main goals that I set for myself for the year and they were both things that truly mattered to me and that I wanted to see big changes in. Since goals are very personal to each one of us, I just wanted to share a basic overview of those goals. The first goal that I wanted to commit to was working hard towards my health and wellness. The second goal was to focus on my business and work hard towards a career that would bring me happiness every single day.
  • Go hard even on the hard days. I have woken up many days exhausted from working full-time, coming home, and taking care of my mother/wife duties, all while trying to find an hour or two to work towards those goals. Sometimes you will feel like giving up, and sometimes you will be so exhausted that you just will not want to put in the time but give yourself grace and do not give up. I have learned that by planning out my days, I have better luck with sticking towards my daily goals. I will wake up early before work since my son is still sleeping to work on things or when he goes to bed, I will set aside that time aside to get extra work done.
  • The next step that I have found so important is kind of the opposite of step two and that is to learn how to give yourself grace. You are never going to be perfect every single day and on certain days you will just completely skip out on working towards your goals and that is also ok. As much as it is important to go hard, it is also equally important to take breaks. I often find that if I burn myself out too much that I end up getting pushed away from whatever I am working towards. So, take the break if you need it and give yourself that moment of grace if you need it.
  • This next one is so important and probably one of the most important steps. Find people to surround yourself with that align with your goals. There are a ton of supportive people out there that will not only support you, but just might work with you towards those goals as well. Find positive Instagram accounts to follow, have positive people in your life, read words that inspire you and motivate you to keep going. Having a great support system will make all the difference in you working towards those goals.
  • Write important steps down. We all know that life does not always go as planned but having a planner and writing down a to-do list of specific daily goals that will help you reach the long-term goals is very beneficial. There is something that makes you feel so good about crossing items off your to-do list and will help you have some accountability of what you would like to accomplish each day.

These are a few of my tips that have helped me stick towards my goals and I am so proud of myself so far this year for working hard towards things that are important to me. I also wanted to take this blog to share a new updated tentative posting schedule to help people know what types of blogs will be posted and when.
