Wellness Wednesday- How I Committed to My Health and Wellness Goals

Happy Wellness Wednesday to all my friends! I hope you all have had a great week so far! For today’s blog I wanted to talk about something that has been important to me this year and that is getting myself into a healthier routine. I have mentioned in a previous blog that I am not normally one for New Year’s resolutions, however this year I did set a few goals and it seems authentic to me this time around because they are goals that I really want to reach. Setting goals not only allows me to find solutions that are obtainable, but it also helps me want to work harder because these goals mean something to me. Being healthy can mean different things for us all, but I wanted to share some of the ways that I have been able to keep on track with these goals.

I defined what my goal was. This was important to me. Sometimes I set very broad goals and those type of goals never really work for me because I am the type of person who needs to really zone in on the task at hand. This year I knew I needed and wanted to make a lot of lifestyle changes in the way I ate and exercised after being diagnosed with a chronic stomach condition. This was a very personal goal for me because I knew it would not only help me at this time in my life, but that making healthy choices now would also help me in the future. A lot of what we do in our younger days can affect our lives in the future.

Know that you are on your own journey. It is easy to get caught up in the comparison game when it comes to social media. One thing that I have learned is that I am own my own journey. There is no race to get results fast or look like someone else you see when you are scrolling on Instagram. Women need to learn to celebrate their body. Even after I had my son, I always thought how amazing women’s bodies are and how they are capable of so much. I have eased into working out and have moved at my own pace. I have learned that it is not all about how my body looks and it is more about how I feel. My confidence has grown a lot through this changing of my mindset as well.

Committed to my changes. This can be hard sometimes. Part of changing my lifestyle with this goal was finding natural, healthy ways to eat to help with my stomach issues. This can be so hard you guys! I am foodie, my husband and I love to snack, we love eating and cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. I knew that certain foods would cause me to have flare ups and I knew that if I did not commit to eating a certain way that I would be the one suffering the consequences. There is always going to be that hard period when you are making a change where you want to give up and go back to your comfort zone ways. Stick to it though! It gets easier as time goes on and it just becomes a natural way of life after a while.

Find a crew. It always is helpful to have people around you that are working towards the same goals or someone who has been where you are that you could look up to as a mentor. It is a lot easier to reach your goals when you have people that you can work with and learn from. I am so inspired by other beautiful women and I love meeting people who I can be inspired by.

Really realized that my body is a temple. I know that we have all heard this before, but have you really ever sat and thought about it? We only get one body in this life. Committing to cleaner eating, exercising more, and using clean products would change my life and would be the best thing that I could for my body. When you look at how precious you and your body is, it will become easier to make better choices.

I hope you guys enjoyed some of these tips on how I have committed to a healthier lifestyle this year. Of course depending on what goals you have set for yourself some of these concepts may change for you, but just know that no matter what goals you have set for yourself that you are capable of reaching them. Reaching goals is all a mindset and you got this!
