Happy Mindset

Happy Saturday to all my beautiful friends! I love this sunshine that we are having where I live today! I am just waiting for the warm weather to come and stay for good! I started thinking about summer today and got so excited thinking about how happy summer makes everyone, especially after the year we have all had. As someone who loves to write, this topic got me to thinking about simple ways to make ourselves happier and I of course wanted to share it on my blog. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the busyness of life that we sometimes forget to slow down like we do on those long summer nights and enjoy the ride. I have become super focused on health and wellness this year and I wanted to share six things that have helped me to get in a great mindset and really enjoy the life I am living.

Slow down. Although this may seem like something we all should know to do, I think we all have a hard time at slowing down. Life is crazy, we have a million responsibilities, and it can get hard sometimes to just take the time to chill. Slowing down is vital to our happiness and it will allow you to really immerse yourself into the moments that you are experiencing and allow you to truly soak in every moment.

Monitor your screen time.  This is another hard one. The pandemic has forced so many people to work from home, that it has become hard to separate work from home and the screen time balance that you have. Know that it is ok to stop working. I just read a quote online the other day from Felicia Lucot who was on a girl boss Instagram account I follow, and she shared, “Idk who needs to hear this, but take your lunch break, your evenings, your weekends, your holidays, and your PTO. You agreed to a job in exchange for pay & benefits. You did not sign up to sell your soul & every moment of your personal time.” I really think this quote needs no further explanation. Limit your screen time, spend time with family. When you are older, you are not going to sit and there and think, “man I wish I would have spent more time on Instagram or worked those extra hours that one night.”

Surround yourself with positive people. No person is ever going to be 100% positive, so we can kick that mindset to the curb. However, it is so refreshing to surround yourself with positive people. Moods are contagious and the type of people you surround yourself with will most likely rub off on you. Find good friends, ones that are going to make a positive impact on your life and wellbeing.

Do stuff that makes you happy. You ever hear the phrase, “life is too short”? Me too. I am sure we all have! With that being said, do stuff that makes you happy. Do you really want to look back on life one day and think of all that what ifs and what could have been? I know I certainly do not want to feel that way. Go after your dreams, pursue them with a relentless fire in your soul. Until you start doing things you truly love to do, you are not living. Happiness is achievable for us all; it is just a matter of how much work you are willing to put in to get to where you want.

Stop Comparing yourself to others. My last blog post was all about this. If you would like to read further into my opinions on this topic, check that post out. I will leave this one short and simple and say comparison is never going to bring joy. So, if that is what you want in your life, do not worry about where others are at in life in comparison to yours. Focus on yourself and that path that was set out before you!

Start moving. Exercising is one thing that will put you in a happy mood, whether it is going for a walk with friends, taking a yoga class, or going to the gym for some lifting. Exercising releases all the negative energy in your body and it puts your mind in a better space to focus on your health and wellness. Not everyone exercises to get their body completely ripped but moving around in whatever capacity we feel comfortable with will help for an instant mood lift.

I hope you guys enjoyed this blog! I feel like my blog is slowly turning into a health and wellness spot, but that is what has become super important to me. Take time this weekend to spend time with those you love and slow down and immerse yourself in the moments and enjoy the peaks of joy that come along with all of that.

Xoxo, Bri
