Hello there to all of my friends! I am excited to be back with a new DIY fashion blog! I first off want to say that I hope everyone is staying safe out there! I am definitely sending prayers to all of you and pray that you are putting your trust in God during these trying times! To try to bring a little fun and light into this world, I thought it would be fun to bring a tutorial on how to make your own bleach tie dye tee! Side note– this technique could be used on any piece of clothing that you want to use! Let’s jump right in!
Step 1: Find what every piece of clothing you would like to use! My personal recommendation is that I would use something that you already have versus going out and buying a new piece. I just used an old tee that already had stains on it! It was actually a men’s tee!
Step 2: Grab a bunch of rubber bands and start pinching the shirt together in random sections and wrap the rubber bands around those sections. Use as many as you like, as this will create a random pattern when you bleach the tee.
Step 3: If you are a teen or kid- make sure you get your parents to help with this part. Find a well vented area and a place like a sink in the basement to bleach the tee. Basically, find a place that you don’t mind getting dirty in. Make sure you wear gloves to protect your skin and old clothes.
Step 4: Mix equal parts of water and bleach in a squirt bottle. I used a half a cup of water and a half a cup of bleach.
Step 5: Once everything is mixed together, squirt the mixture onto the tee all over and saturate it pretty well.
Step 6: You should start to see a change in the color of the tee pretty quickly. After the bleach sits for a few minutes, you will want to take the rubber bands off of the tee and put it in the wash immediately. After it is done being washed, toss it in the dryer.
Step 7: Not necessary but something I decided to do was to crop the shirt a little. Grab a pair of scissors and cut a few inches off the bottom of the shirt to make it the desired length.
I hope you guys enjoyed this little tutorial. I have included a short video on how I made my tee for a reference. Stay tuned for more fun blogs and fashion videos soon! Stay safe!
xoxo, Bri
